Age: 18+; often used with the HAM-A to evaluate the severity of anxiety symptoms in clients; used to distinguish between depression and anxiety

Revised Children’s Manifest Anxiety Scale, 2nd edition. (RCMAS-2)

Age: 6-19; quickly identifies the source and level of anxiety in children so that steps can be taken to reduce stress levels; assesses for presence of academic stress, test anxiety, peer & family conflict, & drug problems

State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI)

Age: 18+; used to simplify the separation between “state” anxiety (temporary) and “trait” anxiety (long-term anxiety, related to personality); differentiates between feelings of anxiety and depression

Screen for Childhood Anxiety Related Disorders (SCARED)

Age: 8-18; Screens for childhood anxiety disorders

Fear questionnaire

Age: N/A; used to assess the level of distress associated with different fears; also used to assess for associated feelings of anxiety & depression
