Homeostasis
the body’s ability to maintain a relatively stable internal environment despite changes inside or outside the body.
What is Dynamic equilibrium controlled by?
feedback systems (feedback loop).
Stimulus
The condition that changes and needs to be regulated
Receptor
Detects the change in the variable/ A structure or cell that can sense the stimulus (a sensor).
Set Point
The ideal value for this particular variable.
Control Center/ Comparator
compares the current value of the variable against the set point. Communicates with the effector.
Effector
The structure, cell, tissue, or organ that can produce a change
feedback loop
a process in which the body detects a change, compares it to a desired value, and produces a response that helps regulate the variable.

Negative feedback
works to bring a variable back toward its normal range/set point. It helps maintain homeostasis.
Positive feedback
makes the original change stronger or greater. Instead of reversing the change, it amplifies it.
