1. Reception- target cell detects the signal molecule when the signal molecule binds to a receptor protein located at the cells surface or receptor 2. Transduction- binding of signaling molecule changes the receptor protein. This converts the signal to a form that can bring a specific cellular response. 3. Response- the transduced signal triggers the intended cellular response.
