Testing PM
Participants are asked to remember to do something (such as pick up a deck of cards) while occupied with another activity -watch movie but also pick up cards at designated times -PM based on how often they preform the task
Event based PM
Preforming actions in response to a cue -Can be either immediate or delayed -immediate: red light = press brakes -delay: see that fridge is empty = buy groceries tomorrow
Monitoring for cue - event based PM
-Used eye tracking to see how often people move eyes in expectation of a cue and on semantically related cues
Time based PM
Preforming a task at a specific time -do x thing at y time
event based vs time based PM task in lexical decision task
-increased delay in time for event based PM led to decreased performance over time due monitoring being more difficult to maintain -time based can be more passive or reactive (you know when you need to respond) -in event based, do not know when need to respond
Two kinds of control in prospective memory
Proactive control:
